ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am a fine artist based in Leeds, UK. I graduated from Hull College of Art in 1992 with a BA Hons degree in Graphic Design. I worked as an Art teacher for 30 years before retiring to pursue my art full time. I work from my home studio which has tons of natural light and an amazing view of Leeds.

I create colourful, bold, non-representational artwork ranging in size from postcards to murals. My main media are recycled emulsion paint with the occasional use of acrylic paint.

My sketchbook is used to gather influences, thoughts and ideas, colours and shapes. Colour mixing and mark making exercises are used to generate ideas that I use in my work.

I often repurpose existing surfaces and materials - whether this is working on existing canvases or framed pictures unearthed in a charity shop, or painting with leftover household emulsion.

I am taking commissions for original paintings and murals. Please complete the contact form below or contact me on clairejagger65@gmail.com or @claire_jagger
